CED tanks explained

Some towns use a shared Common Effluent Disposal (CED) scheme. Here is what that means for your tank.

  • Free to use, no obligation
  • Independent licensed providers do the work
  • Toowoomba Regional Council area

How a CED scheme works

Each property has its own tank that holds back solids. The liquid then flows into a shared council pipe network instead of soaking into trenches on the property.

Where it's used locally

Toowoomba Regional Council says Crows Nest and parts of Cambooya use CED schemes. See our Crows Nest and Cambooya pages.

Who looks after the tank?

Council information indicates owners remain responsible for their own CED tank, including pump-outs when needed. Check your rates notice or ask council about your property.
